The Election Commission of India on Sunday stopped Bollywood actor Sonu Sood from visiting the polling booths in Moga, from where his sister Malvika is contesting in the Punjab Assembly polls on a Congress ticket.

There are allegations that Sonu Sood was trying to “influence” the voters by clicking selfies with them.

The ECI impounded Sonu Sood’s car to stop him from going to various booths after a complaint was lodged by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Darjinder Singh alias Makhan Brar.

District Magistrate Harish Nayyar has also asked Moga SP to file a complaint in this regard.

However, Sonu Sood has denied the allegations, saying he did not ask anyone to vote for his sister. He added that he was just visiting the booths set up outside polling stations.

Taking to Twitter, Sonu Sood accused other candidates in Moga of buying votes.

Malvika Sood joined the Congress in January ahead of the Punjab polls slated to be held on February 20.

She was inducted into the party in her hometown of Moga in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Congress state unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu.
