PPCC president Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday appealed to NRIs to ensure the victory of Punjab and not a leader.

Interacting with NRIs, Sidhu called them a “fountain of knowledge”.

He said every Punjabi expatriate should at least call his or her relatives to vote for “moral authority in the state, and not for a leader, for the sake of Punjab’s future”.

“We are not fighting this election for the next elections, we are fighting this election for the next generation,” said Sidhu.

Stating that he gives due regard and respect to NRIs because of their love for Punjab, he said, “Poor people here sell themselves for Rs 5,000 or a box of liquor but NRIs are the sons of soil and they can bring the change in Punjab.”

An emotional Sidhu said patriotism was not obliging someone and he was paying the debt of soil and his opponents were just talking nonsense since they didn’t have anything credible against him.
